How Heard Works

Heard is an application where citizens can come together to propose ideas to our government. These ideas are self-filtered through a crowd-sourcing methodology.

Government View

As a leader of a community within the Heard application, you will have access to deep insights that can help you make informed and meaningful decisions. Heard presents to you four types of data: leader-initiated data, citizen-initiated data, story data, and system-initiated data.

With leader initiated data, you can ask questions and get immediate feedback from the community and break down that feedback by your community demographics. You can present challenges and have citizens work together to solve those challenges together. Additionally, before an upcoming vote on all bills, you will be able to poll to see how your citizens feel about the current bills. Lastly, you can notify your citizens of town halls or upcoming events.

With citizen-initiated data, you will be able to see citizens ideas on how to improve the community, but with one key difference. With the Heard application, other citizens rate these ideas, so when you see a new idea, it will always be presented with the percent of people in your community who support it. Additionally, citizens can make action plans for these ideas and create movements where they can join together in groups and make these ideas a reality.

With story data, you will be able to get a very in-depth look at how your citizens feel about local, regional, and national issues. The system will aggregate all of their views so you can see which issues are most important to them at any time. Additionally, issues will be broken down into aspects. Users will then vote on those aspects so you can see not only what issues are important to citizens but how they feel about individual aspects of each issue.

With system initiated data, you will be able to see what your community engagement is like and how you can improve it. You will see how closely your personal views, and your towns current policies match the feelings of your community. Lastly, you will be able to see suggestions on how to make the policies of your local community more accurately reflect those of your citizens.
